1. The Exploration Area
The is a section where students can relax and read their favorite books and explore new worlds. The book racks will be filled with young adult literature of old and new. Students are to come here during an assigned time to read and if they don't have a book this will be a great place to find a title they like.
2. The Showoff Area
The showoff area will be an area where students can showcase their work. The area consists of bulletin boards decorated to bring attention to the great work students have completed in my class. Also in this section is the graffiti wall. The graffiti is a wall where students can write about what they have learned about the current unit. Students can draw pictures or write out in words. The board acts as a visual representation of students learning.
3. The One on One Area
The one on one area is a designated area where students come to receive extra help on their work. Also this area is used for student teacher workshops. Students can receive help on their writing and reading skills during class. The location makes it easy for the teacher to transition from their desk to the area and also keeps students form crowding their desk area.
4. Student Work Area
This area is used for students to turn in their work in an organized fashion. The first shelf would be used to turn in any homework or classwork. As Reif said student learning has a close relation with how organized tey are and this is where organization will be stressed. The other to shelves would be used for magazines and newspapers. Students will be encouraged to read other sources of literature such as newspapers and magazines. This also will help students keep up with current issues in the world. Alongside of these news sources there will other resources that support the information of the current unit.
5.Storage
This area is for any materials that maybe used throughout the year. Any thing that can and will be used will be stored in this area and kept at a high inventory.
6. Students Area
This is where students complete their work. The desk are set up so that the teacher can see all of their students. They are all set up in groups due to limited space. The tables are set up in a close proximity to the teachers desk to help control students behavior in the classroom. This set up allows for everyone to have plenty of space to work and move. In the end it provides for a a great learning environment.
